The Sorcerer's Apprentice is the third and most famous part of Disney's 1940 animated film Fantasia. It is based on Goethe's poem of the same name and music by Paul Dukas. Mickey Mouse is the sorcerer's apprentice.
The legend is about a magician who had an apprentice. The apprentice is a clever boy and wants to learn the trade. Actually, he is a little too smart because he starts practicing spells before he has learned how to master them. One day his magic master orders him to fill a cauldron with water. The apprentice comes up with the brilliant idea of bringing a broomstick to life to carry the water for him. This works very well. Only he doesn't know how to make the broomstick stop carrying water...!
