Did you know that the ML guitar was invented by Dean Zelinsky. In 1977, he was looking to improve tone and sustain (the sustain of a tone after it is turned on) and found the solution in spreading the mass of the guitar over a wider area than most guitars.
The shape was designed to fit more comfortably in the hands of some players. The body shape of the Dean ML resembles that of a Gibson Flying V combined with the top half of an Explorer.
