Mac Gargan was a crooked private investigator who agreed to take part in an experiment that would give him super powers. As a result, he gained arachnid-like strength and fighting skills, and was given a suit with a scorpion-like mechanical tail equipped with a deadly stinger at the tip. Calling himself the Scorpion, he embarked on a criminal career that has led him into conflicts with Spider-Man again and again.
