Bellatrix Lestrange-Black, the niece of Sirius Black, is a follower of Voldemort. She tortured father and mother of Neville Longbottom, into insanity. She did this by using the Cruciatus curse. For this, she was sentenced to life imprisonment in Azkaban. During her trial in court, she expressed her pride in having served Voldemort and was convinced that her loyalty to the Lord of Darkness would be rewarded.
Bellatrix is freed from Azkaban by Voldemort and his Death Eaters. Bellatrix of Detta is a Death Eater at heart. She will do anything for Voldemort and thus was even willing to defy Azkaban.
She has a very bad temper. For example, she becomes furious when Harry reveals that he dares to speak Voldemort's name and even makes a few mocking remarks about him. Bellatrix is probably one of the few Death Eaters that Voldemort really trusts, since he was the only one who saved her from the hands of the Order of the Phoenix.
