LEGO® Plate

Although LEGO® tried to put music into the world famous cube with the theme of Vidiyo, LEGO® plates are also not about music, but building fun!

The LEGO® plate is one of the standard building elements along with the cube and tile. The plate is similar to a tile in size. Like the tile, the plate is ⅓ cube high. Three identical plates on top of each other is equivalent to a brick with the same number of studs. So that is immediately the difference from the tile; the slab has studs on the top and stud holders on the bottom.

Base plate

The ground or building plate is a special deviation from the standard plate. Less thick and without stud holders at the bottom, the base plate is large: 32 x 32 studs or even 48 x 48 studs. The base plate 8 x 16 is the smallest variant.

With a building plate of 32 x 32 studs in size, you have approx. 25 cm x 25 cm of space to build your LEGO landscape, play with and put your models on. The sturdy LEGO® base plate provides enough grip to hold LEGO bricks at any angle, even upside down! And after building, the sturdy grip allows you to safely take your creations and display them somewhere.

Plates in different shapes

A plate is not always rectangular, square or triangular. There are also round and semicircular plates. And what about plates with protrusions, such as hooks or pin holes. Plate sizes range from 1x1 to 16x16. At ToyPro you can choose from more than 3,000 different LEGO plates. There should be something for you in there, too!

Once plates get stuck on other LEGO elements, you may find it hard to get them off. They are only small, so little room to grab it. LEGO never released the slab with a groove (as was done with the tile), to be able to pry the slab loose with the "sharp" side of the rocker. But not to worry, for that the element splitter also has another side: the two studs and stud holder. With these you can get the plate loose without damaging it.

Buy separate LEGO® plates

Is a plate missing from your LEGO sets? Fill in the Element ID from the building manual on the parts page of the ToyPro website and you will immediately see if your missing plate is in stock. You can actually order 1 item; ToyPro does not use a minimum order size. Order over €10 worth of LEGO and you won't pay any more processing fees either.
