LEGO® SpongeBob SquarePants is back

LEGO® SpongeBob SquarePants is set to make a striking comeback in 2026. The original LEGO® SpongeBob range was released between 2006 and 2012. After a fourteen-year hiatus, the yellow sponge is returning with two new building sets: a compact BrickHeadz figure and a large LEGO® Icons version of Bikini Bottom.
For fans, this marks a return to familiar locations, characters and moments from the animated series. For builders, the sets are just as appealing thanks to their striking colours, decorative elements, accessories, rounded shapes and parts that can be used to build underwater worlds and colourful displays.
LEGO® SpongeBob returns on 1 September 2026
The two new SpongeBob sets will be available for pre-order from 14 July 2026 and will be delivered from 1 September 2026. These are the LEGO® BrickHeadz™ SpongeBob SquarePants figure 40858 and the LEGO® Icons SpongeBob SquarePants: Bikini Bottom 11386.
With these, LEGO® is offering two distinct building experiences. The BrickHeadz set is a compact display model, whilst Bikini Bottom is an extensive building project for adult fans and collectors. Anyone who collects characters from the original series can also browse the existing LEGO® SpongeBob minifigures at ToyPro.
Compact LEGO® BrickHeadz SpongeBob SquarePants 40858
The LEGO® BrickHeadz™ SpongeBob SquarePants figure 40858 consists of 72 pieces and is intended for builders aged 10 and over. The finished model is approximately 8 centimetres tall and has a recommended retail price of €12.99.
Despite its compact size, the model features several recognisable details. SpongeBob has his familiar square appearance, distinctive facial expression and a net for catching jellyfish. Printed decorative elements have also been used to make the character instantly recognisable.
LEGO® Icons SpongeBob SquarePants: Bikini Bottom 11386
The largest set in the comeback range is LEGO® Icons SpongeBob SquarePants: Bikini Bottom 11386. This set for adults comprises 1,794 pieces and has a recommended retail price of €209.99. The completed display model measures approximately 24 centimetres high, 54 centimetres wide and 13 centimetres deep.
The set combines several well-known locations from Bikini Bottom. Builders can create, amongst other things, SpongeBob’s pineapple house, Squidward’s house, Patrick’s rock and a colourful section of Jellyfish Fields. The buildings not only have recognisable exteriors but also feature detailed interiors.
SpongeBob’s house features a living room and a bedroom. Squidward’s house includes a living room, a bedroom, a bathroom and a rooftop lounge. There is also a furnished interior beneath Patrick’s rock.
The set includes minifigures of SpongeBob, Patrick and Squidward. Gary the snail and DoodleBob are included as buildable characters. There are also various references to famous moments from the series, including the boatmobile, Squidward’s clarinet with music stand and a portrait of Gary.
With its expansive design and numerous small scenes, Bikini Bottom is clearly intended as a display model. The set therefore fits in well with other extensive LEGO® Icons sets.
Interesting pieces for underwater worlds
For builders, the appeal of Bikini Bottom lies primarily in its varied mix of pieces. The underwater world calls for bright colours, rounded shapes, curved building elements, plants, decorative tiles, accessories and unusual building techniques.
For example, with individual LEGO® plant parts, you can build coral, seaweed and fantasy plants. LEGO® tiles are suitable for floors, façade details, furniture and decorative patterns. For the various homes, you can use individual LEGO® house parts.
The small character details are also interesting. With LEGO® minifigure parts and minifigure accessories, you can create your own residents, visitors and underwater adventures.

You don’t need to buy the full set to get started with the SpongeBob theme. With individual LEGO® parts, you can build your own underwater world, pineapple house or colourful fantasy home.
