From small city birds to colourful parrots and magical owls: LEGO® birds come in all sorts of shapes, colours and sizes. These little creatures instantly add a touch of charm to any creation. Place a pigeon on the roof of a LEGO® house, let a parrot take its place on a pirate ship, or add an owl to an enchanting forest.
Which LEGO® bird best suits your finished creation? We’ve listed a few fun varieties below.
The small LEGO® bird is a versatile piece that fits into almost any build. Thanks to its compact size, you can easily place it on a fence, a tree branch, a roof edge or a lamppost.
These little birds are available in various colours and designs. A brown one, for example, resembles a sparrow, whilst a white or blue bird fits perfectly into a fantasy world. With just a few birds together, you can easily create a lively park, a garden or a cosy town square.
The little bird can also be used creatively as a decorative element. After all, with LEGO®, a piece doesn’t always have to represent what it was originally designed for.
A pirate ship isn’t complete without a parrot, of course. LEGO® parrots are recognisable by their curved beaks and long tails. You’ll find both classic models with a narrow beak and newer versions with a wider beak.
Thanks to their wide range of colours and printed feathers, parrots fit perfectly into tropical settings. Place them amongst large leaves, high up in a palm tree or on a pirate’s shoulder. Combine different varieties to create a colourful aviary or an entire rainforest.
As well as the well-known parrots, there are also striking species, such as a white cockatoo. These add a little extra variety to a tropical MOC.
Owls fit perfectly into forests, castles and night-time scenes. The well-known perched LEGO® owl has a compact body with a distinct feather pattern. This makes the animal easily recognisable even on a small scale.
There are also owls with outstretched wings. This version really looks as though it’s flying through the air and is ideal for an action-packed scene. Harry Potter™ fans will, of course, immediately think of Hedwig™. The white snowy owl can deliver a letter, perch on a suitcase or fly above a magical LEGO® world.
Use a transparent piece to attach a flying owl above the ground. This makes it look as though the bird is really hovering through your build.
Pigeons are a must-have on a busy city square. Place a few near a bench, fountain or train station and the area instantly feels more lively. By positioning several pigeons in different poses, you can even recreate a whole flock.
The LEGO® seagull is a great choice for a harbour, beach or lighthouse. Its printed wings and striking beak give this bird plenty of character. Have the seagull perch on a quay, fly above a fishing boat or watch curiously as a minifigure eats.
With their long necks and striking colours, LEGO® flamingos are real eye-catchers. They’re perfect for a tropical swimming pool, a zoo or a sunny beach scene.
LEGO® flamingos aren’t just available in shades of pink. There are also imaginative colour variations, allowing you to put together a cheerful group. Add water, plants and a few small tiles to look like stones, and you’ll soon have a colourful flamingo pond.
Would you rather build a larger bird? The LEGO® Creator 3-in-1 set ‘Wild Animals: Pink Flamingo’ (31170) features a buildable flamingo that can also be rebuilt into two other animals.
Not every bird has to be cute or colourful. A raven, for example, fits in well with a dark castle, a mysterious forest or a fantasy adventure. Models with outstretched wings add extra movement to a scene.
A large LEGO® eagle makes an even bigger impression. Thanks to its broad, movable wings, this bird can fly over a landscape or carry a minifigure. Eagles are therefore particularly well-suited to adventurous and medieval builds.
With a few clever placements, you can make LEGO® birds a real part of the story. Consider, for example:
Also pay attention to the height at which you place the birds. By positioning animals at different levels, your creation will have more depth. Combine perched birds with flying ones for a natural and lively result.
